COEDS-posterCOEDS is a webseries I created with the support of the ISN Theatre Club in Leiden. The series follows the lives of eight students at the university who at first meeting dispise each other and are forced to be in a group together for the rest of the semester.

The characters are played by real students who attends the Leiden University and are part of the ISN Theatre Club. The series is set to premiere in September on YouTube.

The developement of the series began in early February 2015 after I joined the ISN Theatre Club in January. The club was always open to new activities for its members and after a small brainstorm, I suggested a webseries where the episodes are 5 to 10 minutes long. After a few discussions, the series was officially greenlit and got the backing of the theatre club.

The storyline of the first season will look more on the characters development and how to become to hate each other. The majority of each episode will focus on one of the characters. There will also be some supporting characters added that might become series regulars in the later seasons.

A unique asset of the series is that the main characters are based on American student life stereotypes, such as: the jock, nerd girl, nerd boy, hot girl, bitch, creeper, homo and average joe.

MNIP_posterMY NAME IS PAULO is a short film that I directed in 2014 that made a  2015 premiere. The short film tells the story of a young man living in The Hague who recounts the events of his past that lead him to his present and influenced his future.

The short film is a low-budget picture that was made with a handful of people. Even with the shortage of everything, we were determined to make the short film come to life. The film took less than a week to film and went a month in post-production phase.

Since having its premiere, the short film is on its way to even a bigger audience by playing at arthouse theatres and being promoted through online marketing.

The story behind this film was written by the lead actor Alexandrus Santos that got the inspiration from his own life experiences. He felt that telling his story to the world would make him feel better about himself and to help him connect with others.

the wave posterTHE WAVE was theatre production produced by the ISN Theatre Group. It is based on the experiences of American schoolteacher Ron Jones, who found his one-week educational experiment getting terrifyingly out of hand, ‘The Wave’ is a theatrical adaptation of the German 2008 film ‘Die Welle, a drama in two acts.

In their production ‘The Wave’ they explore the undying force of fascism and what kind of social implications it had, has and will continue to have. This universal story explores the darker side of the human psyche and how our fundamental desire to belong and to feel powerful can lead us to willingly relinquish our freedom.

I was asked to filmed the performance. There were three nights of it and I filmed all of it and in the end, I made the feature version of it. The performances took place on December 9th and 10th, 2014 at Leiden.

The full-length feature of this theatrical adaptation can be viewed here: LIT & ISN presents ‘The Wave’.

poster_white-rabbit Alice in Wonderland was theatre production produced by the Leiden English Freshers (LEF). It is adapted from Lewis Carroll’s Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland and Alice Through The Looking Glass.

It is impossible to imagine a world where Lewis Carroll hadn’t written about Alice’s beautifully insane journey to Wonderland. Her adventures are legendary and now she returns to the stage once again. On a golden afternoon, young Alice follows a White Rabbit, who disappears down a nearby rabbit hole. Quickly following the White Rabbit, she tumbles into the burrow – and enters the merry, topsyturvy world of Wonderland! Memorable songs, dances and whimsical escapades highlight Alice’s journey. Drinking tea with the Mad Hatter and March during which she has to solve riddles, playing croquet with the Queen of Hearts and nearly getting her head chopped off are some of the adventures of ‘Alice in Wonderland’. “Oh, you can’t help that,” said the Cat: “we’re all mad here.”
